WIC at Seeds of Health
Proudly Serving Milwaukee's Mothers for Over 40 Years!
WIC began operating nationally in 1974 to provide nutritional support and improve the health of mothers and children. Early evaluations showed positive outcomes, including improved birth outcomes, better nutrition for participating women and children, and reduced rates of anemia and other nutrition-related health problems.
Over time, WIC evolved beyond simply providing food benefits. Today, services include nutrition counseling and education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to healthcare and social services.
In 1983, before opening its award-winning schools, Seeds of Health was founded as a WIC Clinic and began serving young mothers and infants in the Milwaukee area. Now, the Seeds of Health WIC team has more than 150 years of combined experience in the WIC program and serves approximately 1,700 families.
